Background This page is a curated archive of resources related to packet buffer sizing in network equipment. Much of this information is derived from Jim Warner’s packet buffer page at UCSC. A lot of this is fairly old at this point, but as we all know, network equipment tends to have zombie-like lifespans and gets repurposed for years after it’s intended lifecycle. Having copies of this data, which for many years was “The Buffer Bible”, painstakingly archived by Jim, may help someone somewhere, someday.
